My boyfriend and I planned a trip to a cabin in the woods for our anniversary and we were pretty nervous about it.
We had never been camping by ourselves before, so we chose a cabin that was nearby other ones so that we weren’t completely isolated.
The cabin was small and quaint, and a really beautiful fireplace and mantle. I knew the cabin was a lot older when I saw the dial thermostat on the wall. I actually had no idea what it was at first, but the cabin manual explained everything about it and how it operates the central HVAC. My boyfriend thought that it looked so cool and vintage that he said we should install a dial thermostat into our own home. I thought it was a stupid idea because digital thermostats are much easier to use and they are easier to find these days. I enjoyed the idea of having a SMART thermostat that we could program to fit our needs and control from our phones. My boyfriend thinks that SMART thermostats will track our information and every move, and he would prefer the less invasive route of a dial thermostat. At the end of the day, thermostats operate and perform the same main duty, but the type of thermostat you choose can really dictate the experience you have with your entire air conditioning system. We had a discussion about this for about two hours and went to sleep with hurt feelings. I guess when you’re in a relationship for so long you pick the silliest things to argue about.
