If I had it all to do over again, I would have chosen a different path of education.
At the time I was young and dumb and choose to believe that following my passion would lead to success and happiness.
Well all it led to was a hundred thousand dollars in debt and a college degree that apparently is only fit for getting me a job at Starbucks. Luckily I found a good opportunity that used some of the things I had learned in marketing classes for my minor at college. I only studied marketing as a way to learn how to market myself, but now I am using that for an HVAC marketing company instead. The biggest obstacle I’ve had with my bosses is getting them to understand SEO, how it works and how important it is. To them, results need to be immediate or they don’t matter, but with search engine optimization it is a longer term investment that can pay big dividends. Think of digital marketing in terms of trying to acquire food to survive. PPC and Google ads are like going hunting, where the results are immediate, but just as quickly gone. SEO is like growing a field of crops, where it takes a lot more time and effort, but you can eat for months off of the harvest. Does this make sense to you? With good SEO and cultivating a large amount of informational blogs and helpful resources, you can turn your website into a magnet for organic traffic. And that will put you at the top of the Google results pages.
